I deleted my blog

Content

I did something which I have been considering for a while but have not done anything about until today. I deleted most of my blog posts.

If you are wondering why the details are as follows. I as a test used a content creation site to automatically create/post free content for my blog. This was brilliant from a lazy persons view as I had a lot of post mostly relevant to my niche pushed to my site over the period of a week.

I stopped this as the content although quite good wasn’t quite what I wanted and I felt like I had lost control of the information that was being pushed to my site. Most of the publishers had links going to their own sites and although I didn’t mind too much, some of the content wasn’t what I liked.

I left this for a while and then came across John Chow’s site. One of the blog posts I read was about content creation and he hit the nail on the head with his post.

I had laugh at the use of his term “site whore”. I was in the exact same position and wasn’t too happy with what was published on my site. I also used a link in John’s book to create a Kontera account and my application was rejected.

This was of course due to the generated content and I am appealing the decision after deleting the pushed content. I hope I can rescue the situation by doing this.

I also made sure that I updated my WordPress version to the latest one to make sure it resolves the XSS problem related to the old version. It is very important to stay current with updates as your site can become a host for a lot of undesireable content or become a source of infection for general internet users.

It looks like most of my plugins are working OK. I will have to work through them to make sure they are correctly configured as i have added a whole lot of new ones which require some attention.

I am going to continue reading John’s book and review bits and pieces which I find is most relevant to my situation and also make sure people that start out dont make my mistakes.
